Tastings

Managing Tastings

Managers can create and edit tastings. Tasting sessions are a great way engage your customers and have them provide feedback on your beers.

Adding a Tasting

  1. Click Manage from the top menu
  2. Click Tastings
  3. A list of contests will be displayed
  4. Click Tastings for the contest you would like to add a tasting to
  5. A list of tastings will be displayed
  6. Click Add Tasting
  7. Fill out the following fields accordingly, and click Create Tasting to create your tasting
  • Tasting Name

    (Optional) A name of your tasting session.

  • Max Beer Rating

    The highest rating that can be scored for a beer in this session. Common values are 5, 10, and 100.

  • Starts on

    The date and time the tasting will begin

  • Ends on

    The date and time the tasting will end. The scoring session will automatically close 4 hours after the end time.

  • This is a blind tasting

    If checked, the brewery and beer names are hidden from customers as they score. The names are revealed when the tasting is closed.

  • Hide scoring results when open

    If checked, the average scores for the beers are hidden from customers as they score. The final score is revealed when the tasting is closed.

  • Score beers on a single overall category

    If checked, customers can provide only a single score for the beer. If not checked, customers can score on multiple categories for each beer.

  • Categories

    Select the categories that you would like your customers to score for each beer.

  • Weight

    Enter a value from 0 - 100 to adjust the impact that the category has on the final average score. For example, entering 75 for a category would reduce its impact on the final score by 25%. The default value is 100 and all categories are considered equal.

Registering Beer for a Tasting

  1. Click Manage from the top menu
  2. Click Tastings
  3. A list of contests will be displayed
  4. Click Tastings for the related contest
  5. A list of tastings will be displayed
  6. Click Register
  7. Enter the name of the beer's Brewery
  8. Enter the name of the Beer
  9. Click Search
  10. Beers that match the brewery and name in our beer database will be shown
  11. Click Register to add the beer to your tasting

If you can't find your beer in the search results:

  1. On the search results page, click Add a New Beer
  2. Enter the Brewery name
  3. Click Search
  4. Click Select to choose the brewery, or Add Brewery if you can't find the brewery in the search results
  5. Adjust the beer Name and other information, such as ABV
  6. Click Add Beer

Editing a Tasting

  1. Click Manage from the top menu
  2. Click Tastings
  3. A list of contests will be displayed
  4. Click Tastings for the related contest
  5. A list of tastings will be displayed
  6. Click the three dot iconfor the tasting that you would like to edit
  7. Click Edit Tasting
  8. Adjust the fields as needed
  9. Click Save

Opening and Closing a Tasting

A tasting can be either opened or closed. When a tasting is open, customers are free to score beers in that tasting. When a tasting is closed, customers cannot submit scores. A tasting must be manually opened. A tasting will automatically close 4 hours after the end time configured for the tasting. A tasting can also be manually closed at any time. To open and close a tasting:

  1. Click Manage from the top menu
  2. Click Tastings
  3. A list of contests will be displayed
  4. Click Tastings for the related contest
  5. A list of tastings will be displayed
  6. Click the three dot iconfor the tasting
  7. Click Open Tasting or Close Tasting

Removing a Tasting

  1. Click Manage from the top menu
  2. Click Tastings
  3. A list of contests will be displayed
  4. Click Tastings for the related contest
  5. A list of tastings will be displayed
  6. Click the three dot iconfor the tasting that you would like to remove
  7. Click Remove Tasting
  8. Click Yes, Remove to confirm

Removing a Beer from a Tasting

  1. Click Manage from the top menu
  2. Click Tastings
  3. A list of contests will be displayed
  4. Click Tastings for the related contest
  5. A list of tastings will be displayed
  6. Click the three dot iconfor the tasting
  7. Click Registered Beers
  8. Click the three dot iconfor the beer
  9. Click Remove Beer
  10. Click Yes, Remove to confirm

NOTE Removing beers and tastings will also remove all related ratings and reporting data.
